Green Things Farm grew out of two people's love for each other and their community. Nate and Jill Lada started the farm in the spring of 2011 at the Tilian Farm Incubator Program. In 2013 we purchased 64 acres of conserved farmland on Nixon Road. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers and grains. We also raise pigs, cattle, and chickens. We started with a bare conventional field and work every year to build infrastructure and improve the health of our farm ecosystem.
As of 2015 we are certified organic. We are deeply grateful for the support we have been given from the Ann Arbor community.
The core of our farm is a CSA, which stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A CSA is a model of food distribution which builds a relationship with your farmer.
We grow a diverse variety of seasonal organic flowers for our farm stand, markets, wholesale, and special events.
A couple times per year (usually fall and mid winter) you can join our certified organic pig CSA! You can buy a whole or half animal from our pasture raised, heritage breed herd of hogs. We also usually have meat at the farm stand and market.
In the summer months we host community farm dinners. We also work with Thurston Elementary on their school garden and fundraising for the Nature Center. We work with St. Joseph hospital to provide more access to fresh food and local flowers to folks in the hospital. And more! We are happy to work with you to do farm outreach.
