CSA : Community Supported Agriculture
The core of our farm is a CSA, which stands for community supported agriculture. A CSA is a model of food distribution which builds a relationship with your farmer.
What Membership Means: Members agree to buy a share of the farm at the beginning of each season in return for their portion of the harvest each week. Shares reflect the inherently unpredictable nature of farming--while we plant a diverse and abundant selection of vegetables, each season will have its booms and busts for individual crops.
By becoming a member, you will share in the bounties and risks of farming and give us much needed support at the beginning of the season while becoming an important member of our community.
Our produce is certified organic--always using the best practices for the environment and the people who eat it! We are in the process of restoring our soil and farm ecosystem to good health after decades of neglect. Hoop houses allow us to produce food year round and earlier in the season than crops grown in the field.
Fall CSA 2018
September 13-December 13th
Join us Thursday evenings to select produce from the farm during the fall harvest. Enjoy a wide selection of roots, greens, and squashes. We will also have the last of the summer's bounty of tomatoes, fresh herbs, and so much more.
You will select your own vegetables each week by the pound--we will let you know how much each week based on the harvest (usually about 6lbs). There will also be a bonus bench with special items in addition to what you pick out by weight. We guarantee you will receive more value for your dollar because you are a member!
When/Where to pick up:
Thursdays 3:30-6:30pm at our farm stand on 3825 Nixon Rd, just 5 miles north of downtown Ann Arbor.
PAYMENT: Please mail a check made for $300 to Green Things Farm at 3825 Nixon Rd Ann Arbor, MI 48105 when signing up.
IMPORTANT : We will be doing every other week pick up starting in November. Since fall vegetables are generally shelf stable you will get to pick out two weeks of veggies during the last two months of shares. This also lines up so that we will not have distributions over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Distributions will be November 1st, 15, 29 and December 13.
What if I can't make distribution?
If you cannot make distribution, please send a friend in your place. Think of it as a season ticket, if you miss a game you don't get to refund your ticket. Thanks for understanding.
